Why did I build 1MonthOfAIForEdcuation?

Hello there wonderful human, I'm Serj  👋

Over the past six years, I've had the privilege of partnering with schools, startups, and universities to weave technology, including AI, into their organisation.

I had a front row seat to the innovation, but I never imagined that generative AI would break into the global scene as quickly as it did and it’s only getting faster.

The arrival of ChatGPT and its adoption by educators sparked a torrent of reactions. My inbox was overwhelmed with a mix of excitement and concern—newsletters, controversial articles, and debates on the existential risks posed by AI, calls for its ban, and alarming forecasts about job displacement.

Initially, I was also scared.

However, beyond the headlines, I was seeing a different story unfolding. AI was revolutionizing fields right before our eyes — discovering treatments for diseases once deemed incurable, enhancing solar technology's efficiency, and contributing to significant breakthroughs across disciplines.

It's undeniable that AI comes with its share of risks. Yet, the potential benefits it offers are immense. As educators—whether you're a teacher, professor, school administrator, dean, or headmaster—you play a pivotal role in mitigating these risks.

History has this way of repeating itself. The advent of generative AI can be likened to the introduction of the printing press—an innovation that fundamentally transformed access to knowledge and education. Just as the printing press democratized information and spurred a wave of intellectual awakening, generative AI holds the potential to revolutionize how we learn, teach and create.

By embracing this technology thoughtfully, we can ensure it serves as a tool for progress, empowering young people to contribute positively to a world where technology, humanity and nature thrive together.
